Common Musition 3 for Windows Problems and SolutionsTable of Contents
Invalid serial numbersIf you are receiving a message 'Invalid Serial Number' when trying to install Musition, please check the '1's ('ones') and 'I's ('eyes'), as they can easily be confused. For example; MUWLM 300 EXP WUQ R5I 007 413 or MUWLM 300 EXP WUQ R51 007 413 Note the fifth group of characters - the first example reads as 'R', '5', 'I' (eye) where as the second example reads as 'R', '5', '1' (one). Balancing Wave and MIDI Sound Levels (Question and Answer sounds too soft)Musition plays the question sounds using the MIDI device on your sound card, or an external MIDI device if you have one. The Opening, Closing, Right and Wrong sounds are Wave sounds, using a different part of your sound card. If there is an imbalance in these sounds, you can correct it by following the instructions below.
No sound when practising (MIDI Sound)When you are practising, Musition plays the questions using a MIDI device. In most cases, this is built into your soundcard, however, you may also use external keyboards and soundmodules. If you can't hear any sound, follow the steps below to resolve the issue. Check Musition MIDI Settings
Check Windows MIDI Volume Settings
If you are not getting any question sounds please see No sound when practising (MIDI Sound) If you have forgotten your administration password, or have forgotten your user name and password, you will be locked of of the program, or perhaps just the administration areas. The only way back into the software is to delete the 'rising3.fdb' database file, however, this will result in all your settings, users, classes, tests and user results being lost. You can also email us the 'rising3.fdb' file - we can unlock it for you and send it back. If you do decide to delete your 'rising3.fdb' file, it is typically located in 'C:\Program Files\Rising Software\Data3\'. Musition will automatically generate a new database when it starts up. Problems running under Windows 95 - 'Unable to load fbembed.dll' If you are running under Windows 95 and see the error 'Unable to load fbembed.dll' when you start Musition 3.0, you need to install some updates. First download and install the Windows Socket 2 update from the following website; You should then download and install the Microsoft DUN 1.3 and Winsock2 Year 2000 Update; Musition should now function correctly.
